The Golden Nugget Danville Casino will host its inaugural event on Tuesday, April 19 at 204 Eastgate Drive in Danville. Attendance is restricted to non-government personnel.
Last month, the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) approved Danville as “preliminarily suitable” for a casino license. Officials say that if construction stays on track for the expected 11 months, the Golden Nugget Danville casino could open by March 2025.
The casino will feature a 41,500 square foot gaming floor with 500 slot machines and 14 table games, as well as two restaurants and a Golden Nugget Sportsbook.
The plan includes creating 300 permanent positions at the casino.
Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. predicts that the game will bring in millions of dollars for the local community.
At times, local officials display an overly ambitious attitude towards blackjack deadlines. Nevertheless, Williams has thus far remained true to his word.
Based on his remarks regarding a potential timeline in March, Here & rsquo:
This suggests that Danville may experience a significant event within 45 to 60 days. To make this happen, we may need to meet as soon as April or by the end of the month. After that, a groundbreaking event is expected to take place in the early months of 2025 in Danville.
Danville is ready for the upcoming game release on April 19 and should consider starting operations as soon as possible, especially with a new casino being built in nearby Terre Haute, Indiana.
Position of additional upcoming Illinois games
Danville is vying to be Illinois’s next permanent casino with groundbreaking information.
Walker’s Casino, located in Williamson County, is scheduled to open its permanent location in early 2025, situated between two designated points.
However, a few temporary casinos will be up and running before that time. Waukegan plans to open its provisional casino in July, while Rockford’s is already open. Unfortunately, Danville will not have a temporary casino due to its faster construction timeline.
Permanent gambling facilities in Rockford and Waukegan are expected to open before those in Danville and Williamson County.
After opening its Danville location, Wind Creek Casino Homewood / East Hazel Crest is set to debut its permanent location in mid-2023.
What about Chicago?
Finally, we have some exciting updates about Chicago casinos.
This week, all three remaining bidders – Hard Rock Chicago, Bally’s Chicago, and Rivers 78 – held community meetings.
Residents of the affected communities are not eager to have a casino in their area, leading to public criticism for both sides. Despite this, Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago plans to select a winner by the summer.
It is anticipated that the Chicago game will not be accessible to the general public until 2025 or beyond.
