Dave Portnoy stated that Barstool River North, a sports club in Chicago, will be open to the public on Saturday.

Portnoy announced on The Dave Portnoy Show that he will be starting a bar in Chicago that will only be open on Fridays.

Entry into indoor spaces in Chicago will now require proof of vaccination, as mandated by the city starting on January 3rd.

Just to make it clear, you are not able to sign up for a Barstool Sportsbook account at the bar. Registration must be completed at Hollywood Casino Aurora.

However, the table will still give off a casino atmosphere with its numerous TV screens, drinks, and food. Individuals with the Barstool app installed on their phones can place bets on the table. Regrettably, those without the app may not be able to participate at this time.

Starting March 5th, in-person registration will no longer be an option for registering for an online sportsbook in Illinois. Moving forward, registration can only be completed using a mobile device.

The new bar will be located at 18 W Hubbard St, the former site of Henry’s. With the high foot traffic in River North, it is expected that this location will attract a large number of customers.

In late 2021, Jay Snowden, President and CEO of Penn National Gaming, declared:

In the coming months, we plan to open the first two standalone sports bars under the Barstool name in Philadelphia and Chicago. This expansion will bolster our omni-channel approach by focusing on targeted, adaptable, and highly sought-after venues.

This year, Portnoy visited the newly-opened Barstool Chicago location in Lakeview for the first time.

Barstool has so far been in Illinois.

Barstool launched in Illinois in March, during a time when website registration was required. Shortly after, Governor Pritzker brought back in-person membership options.

Barstool was greatly affected by the delay in registration for new users, as it had a more significant impact on their operations compared to other life operators. If Barstool had started operations sooner, they would likely be reporting higher numbers in the Land of Lincoln.

However, Barstool is performing relatively well in Illinois, ranking as the fourth-largest operator by handle in the latest revenue report from October. Despite this, it falls behind DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetRivers in monthly handle statistics.

For over four days in October, DraftKings had control, surpassing Barstool’s duration.

Once online registration is reinstated, Barstool is anticipated to climb the ranks. Until it launches at Wrigley Field, DraftKings Sportsbook will remain the only legitimate betting option in Chicago, even though it is not an official casino.

Additionally, a table is coming to Philadelphia.

Snowden also mentioned that a Barstool Bar will be opening in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.

Portnoy also mentioned the Philadelphia table during his radio show.

The event was planned to occur at the Brickwall Tavern on 1213 Sansom Street, following the beginning in Chicago. It was expected to start shortly thereafter.
