By the end of August, Illinois had a total of seven sportsbooks, but only BetRivers, DraftKings, and FanDuel were allowing online betting.

The only copies sold were the financial versions of the remaining four books. Below are the sales figures.

Sportsbook at the Joliet Casino in Hollywood( store only ) $325,598
Sportsbook at Aurora Casino in Hollywood( financial only ) $167,060

Let’s try to reduce the noise in these statistics.

It is not surprising that BetRivers holds a top position, even in a successful quarter for the company.

During the first 21 weeks of August, an in-person membership was required. However, BetRivers successfully implemented electronic registration for the majority of June and July.

DraftKings launched its online platform on Aug. 5, however, users were initially required to visit DraftKings at Casino Queen in East St. Louis to sign up until Aug. 21.

On the other hand, FanDuel Sportsbook did not start operating until August 28, so its August numbers only reflect four days of business.

Also, BetRivers put on a fantastic performance.

However, BetRivers continues to see significant numbers despite these limitations.

In August, it recorded approximately $3.8 million in daily managed funds. Similarly, upon its online launch, DraftKings reported nearly $1.3 million in daily funds for comparison.

FanDuel reported a daily handle of around $1 million in the final four days of August.

DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet, and William Hill are anticipated to step in to address the gap in September, but there is still a substantial amount of work to be done.

A fascinating case study on the behavior of Illinois’ loyal sports betting customers will be presented in September.

In August, approximately 94% of bets were made online, a trend that remained consistent with previous months.

Additionally, in a situation where most of the month required in-person membership, it was not surprising that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of customers chose to use BetRivers on their mobile devices rather than going to a casino.

Sportsbooks made $7.2 million in revenue, resulting in a 5.2% hold.

Illinois may experience a massive September.

Illinois had a higher betting turnover than Colorado in August, despite only having one notable sportsbook.

Colorado, famous for its abundance of sports betting apps, reported a revenue of $118.6 million in August.

Illinois is just behind Indiana in terms of business advancement. Indiana’s business sector is more advanced than Illinois and recorded a control of $169 million in August.

Additionally, anticipate significant events occurring in September.

Football is the sport with the highest betting interest, and the NFL and college sports seasons have kicked off.

Additionally, DraftKings and FanDuel successfully registered new digital bettors over the course of a month by utilizing significant advertising budgets.

In mid-September, PointsBet and William Hill sportsbooks were both introduced. PointsBet has been actively working to attract customers since its launch, becoming the official betting partner of the Chicago Bears and offering a variety of enticing promotions related to the team.

According to Marcus Fruchter, the administrator of the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB), 230,000 sports betting accounts were created in mid-September.

Illinois has already utilized smart registration, which could potentially end on October 17.
