What happened to the application for Rivers Casino Waukegan & rsquo?

At first, Waukegan received three bids, but on September 29, Churchill Downs (CDI) pulled out of the running for the Rivers Casino.

The announcement was made hours after the Chicago Bears signed a purchasing agreement to acquire CDI’s Arlington International Racecourse.

On September 30, during a special session, Marcus Fruchter, the IGB administrator, stated:

I was informed yesterday afternoon by representatives from CDI – RSG Waukegan LLC that they have chosen not to withdraw their application for an owner’s license to operate a casino in the city. As a result, there are now only two remaining candidates vying for the sole gaming license to be granted in Waukegan.
