Illinois casinos raked in over $115 million in revenue in February, continuing their strong performance from January when they earned $112.6 million.
The Illinois casino industry has seen an 18% increase in February 2025 compared to the previous year, showing continued successful growth.
The Illinois Gaming Board reported that the state’s total adjusted gross receipts amounted to $115,016,256. Slot revenue accounted for $88,046,772, with table games bringing in $26,969,472.
Top Illinois casinos by revenue
In February 2025, Rivers Casino in Des Plaines topped the state in casino revenue by bringing in approximately $43 million, a significant increase from the $31 million it earned in February 2022. The revenue breakdown for Rivers Casino is as follows:
- Slots: $26,942,513
- Table games: $16,059,583
- Admissions: 233,810
Additionally, the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin trails behind in second place with earnings of $12 million, while Harrah’s Hollywood Joliet closely follows in third place with $10 million. These top earning properties are conveniently located within a two-hour drive of Chicago, attracting a larger player base compared to casinos in the southern region of the state.
It is important to mention that the state Gaming Board provides separate reports for in-person Illinois sports betting revenue and casino games revenue. Retail sportsbooks are not included in the casino revenue reports.
Tax revenue from IL casinos
During the month of February, casinos in the Prairie State generated over $15 million in tax revenue, an increase of $4 million compared to the same period in 2022. Local municipalities received $6.5 million of this total. Here is a breakdown of tax contributions by property:

New casinos in Illinois
In mid-February, The Temporary at American Place, a recently opened casino in Illinois, made its debut on the state’s revenue reports. Over the course of its first two weeks, the casino attracted 40,075 visitors and generated $2,653,715 in slots revenue and $363,757 in table games revenue.
The Temporary casino in Illinois is currently running at a reduced capacity as it trains staff and builds new amenities like restaurants and a sportsbook. Once fully operational, The Temporary could become a major player in the state’s casino revenue. This is all before the $400 million American Place casino opens in 2025.
In particular, the permanent Waukegan casino will include:
- 1,640 slots
- 100 table games
- A permanent sportsbook
- 1,500-seat entertainment venue
- The initial phase will feature 20 ‘villa-style’ rooms known as The Mansion, with a second phase planned to include a 150-room hotel.
Illinois casino enthusiasts are excitedly anticipating the arrival of a new property from Bally’s in the state. The company is set to open a temporary location at the Medinah Temple by June 2025 before starting construction on its permanent River West property.
