Illinois Lottery players have long been able to buy tickets online, but until recently, they still had to claim prizes in person. Now, the award claim process has been improved.
No matter how big your winnings are, you can now submit an electronic claim through the Illinois Lottery’s new “e-claims” system. The raffle process has completely shifted to an online format.
What is the procedure for the fresh Illinois Lottery website award claim?
Basically, the lottery and its players utilize the same technology as many other state systems, thanks to “e-claims”. Illinois residents often handle all of their transactions online, including licenses and fees.
The jackpot currently operates under the same principle. For example, imagine winning a $1,000 prize while playing Lucky Day Lotto, whether you purchased the ticket in person or online.
How to make an online award declare
- Visit the website of the IL Lottery & rsquo.
- After winning, click the “button and choose the “Winning” option from the drop-down menu.
- Click the blue button to access E-Claims.
- Please review the terms and conditions thoroughly before confirming your acceptance by checking the two boxes provided.
- Then, click on the link to access a fillable claim form that is divided into three steps.
- You will need to submit a check or image of both the front and back of your winning ticket after filling out the form.
There is nothing else to it.
When did your prize be delivered to you?
You will receive a check for the prize amount, as well as any applicable fees, within three to four weeks at the address you provide on the state form.
Is the new e-claims program required to be used?
Prizes of $600 or less won with tickets purchased on the app or website will automatically be credited to your Illinois Lottery account. No claim submission is required for these prizes.
Prizes of equivalent value obtained with a physical ticket may still be redeemed at any Illinois lottery retailer, subject to availability of funds. Prizes totaling $600 or less do not require a claim to be filed.
If your prize is $601 or more, you have the option to schedule an appointment at an Illinois Lottery claim center to redeem your prize in person instead of using e-claims. The choice is entirely yours.
The speed of claiming a prize, whether through making an appointment or using the e-claims portal, depends on the volume of claims and staffing levels. As of July 2020, claims centers in the state are no longer accepting walk-in traffic. For all the information on how to claim a prize at a claim center, refer to the details provided here.
E-claims provides a contemporary way for Illinois residents to participate in the lottery.
