Cubs start construction on Wrigley Field DraftKings Sportsbook

Construction has officially started on the new DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field, making it the first stadium in Illinois to have its own sportsbook, set to enhance the Chicago Cubs’ home field.

Soon, gamblers in Illinois will have a new sports betting option as the beam signing is visible in the rearview.

Wrigley Field sportsbook

The Cubs, known as one of the most prestigious teams in professional sports, are now looking to capitalize even more on their popularity.

Wrigley’s sportsbook, scheduled to debut in 2025, will introduce a variety of new features to one of Major League Baseball’s most historic ballparks, which currently does not offer many modern conveniences.

The DraftKings Sportsbook at the arena is under construction at the corner of Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street. When completed, it will be able to welcome up to 1,000 patrons.

The area will feature a 2,000-square-foot video screen displaying a range of statistics, scores, and betting odds for the Cubs.

Even if you’re not placing bets on the team playing at the ballpark, you can still have a great time in the area. The DraftKings Sportsbook will be open year-round, not just during the MLB season.

Crane Kenney, President of Business Operations for the Cubs, declared that the year-round business would be a key asset for the sportsbook.

Today’s beam signing ceremony is a significant milestone in our ongoing collaboration with DraftKings. We are excited to introduce a cutting-edge sportsbook that will enhance the game day experience for fans and visitors at Wrigley Field. We are pleased to announce our plans to open this new venue in 2025, as well as the addition of a year-round entertainment option to the campus.

Competing with Wrigleyville

In other words, the new sportsbook at Wrigley Field will be in competition with the many bars and restaurants in Wrigleyville that Cubs fans typically go to before games.

DraftKings has envisioned a variety of distinctive features in the hopes that they will be compelling enough to attract game-day funds.

The sportsbook’s main focus is on the ability to place bets on sports while inside its establishment.

Wrigley’s sportsbook will offer both a traditional walk-up counter for placing bets and kiosks for gamblers looking to avoid lines.

DraftKings is currently building a unique bar, in partnership with Jim Beam, to serve the local community.

The bar will serve American-style food similar to the traditional fare found at Wrigley Field, making it a great option for sports fans looking for ballpark snacks on days when the Cubs aren’t playing.

The sportsbook launch at Wrigley Field marks a new chapter for one of baseball’s most iconic stadiums, despite the addition of new features. This decision falls in line with other stadiums nationwide that are taking advantage of the growing gambling industry.
