DePaul Betting Lines Explained

The three most common types of bets for all sporting events are moneyline, point spreads, and totals bets. In this case, the DePaul Blue Demons will be playing against Northern Illinois University.

  • DePaul is expected to win against NIU, as indicated by their Moneyline of -150. If you bet $150 on the Blue Demons and they come out victorious, you would make a $100 profit.
  • In order for the bet on the DePaul vs. NIU game to be successful, DePaul needs to win by a margin of at least six points, with the spread set at 5.5 points.
  • Gamblers have the option to bet on whether the total score of the DePaul and NIU game will exceed or fall below the designated point total of 130.

DePaul prop bets

A prop bet is a specialized wager made during a game, such as predicting that Blue Demons junior Nick Ongenda will grab more than 8.5 rebounds. However, prop bets on Illinois college athletes are not allowed. Player props have sparked controversy and discussion in the world of legal sports betting.

DePaul futures bet

A futures bet is a wager placed on an outcome that has yet to be determined. For instance, betting on the Blue Demons to win the Big East conference or on Stubblefield to win the Naismith Coach of the Year award are prime examples of futures bets.

Why You Can Bet on Illinois College Teams Now

Originally, Illinois sports betting laws did not permit betting on in-state college games. However, during the October 2021 veto session, the Illinois Senate and House approved HB 3136, which now allows in-person betting on Illinois colleges and universities. However, this law specifies that betting on Illinois colleges can only be done at an Illinois sportsbook, not through a mobile device.
