The Temporary, a new establishment by American Place, has announced plans to begin operating in October. This temporary facility in Waukegan will serve as the main location until the permanent American Place casino is ready to open.
The Temporary will feature 50 table games and 1,000 slot machines, along with a bar and three restaurants. It will be located in a tent-like structure covering 70,000 square feet, designed to withstand the tough winter conditions in Illinois.
The Temporary casino will have a Circa Sportsbook with 36 televisions showing games of the Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks. Through the partnership with Full House, Circa will be able to launch its mobile app in Illinois.
The temporary structure will serve as a placeholder for casino enthusiasts until the completion of the American Place, a $400 million project scheduled to open in 2025. The American Place promises to provide a unique experience for visitors to Illinois casinos.

The addition of a 150-room traditional hotel will signify the next stage of development at American Place, elevating the project to a new level.

Situated 24 miles north of Chicago and 54 miles south of Milwaukee, Waukegan is strategically located between two cities, American Place and Temporary Place, making it a potential attraction for both.

Full House completed the foundation for Temporary Place earlier this month, with Turner Construction overseeing the project.
The casino has started its hiring process for approximately 260 dealers needed to serve its clientele at Temporary Place. The establishment will be open 24/7.
